Is the desk manager the only back up program for the 8100 or is there a way to use an outside program for like making a ghost of the system?

I have read around the site and cannot seem to find anything other than what comes with the BB.

Desktop Manager is probably the best, and only choice.

I suspected that. I guess when my BB gets here I will need to learn the program.

I plan to only use my BB for a phone and calendar, maybe some mp3 playing no internet. If my player has the older OS and manager versions and works fine should "I update it:? After reading all the problems that can occur I am a little nervous.

Don't worry about it. I find Desktop Manager very easy to use. I usually follow the rule that if it ain't broke don't fix it.
