It just a program that allows ease of transition from PC to Phone. It can be a life saver when updating OS, or simply adding music.

It is always good to have.

it will work fine and doesnt take a lot of space

Yes, and you need it to do a regular backup so that if anything happens to your BB, all you have to do is get another device and transfer your information and contacts.

I would say not just yes, but YES INSTALL IT! My first Berry went swimming with no backups. It really sucked getting all my info on the new phone. Since then I back up my phone every couple of days. It takes only a minute or so. I used the backup a couple months back when I took my 2nd Berry for a swim. Very easy to reinstall data to new phone.
