My mate has done the "Wipe Handheld" on his 8110 but needs to reload his OS.

    How does he do this?

He can go to the provider website or download it from blackberry.com. If he backed it to his pc he can use desktop manager to do a restore.

    One final question:

    How would he do this?
For example, he'd connect his BB to the PC via a cable? Or can it be done OTA?

A total step-by-step procedure would help no end.

His OS is still intact. If he did a handheld wipe what is lost is all personal data, and if he doesn't know how to get it back, he never backed it up to begin with. I'll post my guide below, for the future.

I don't have the phone in my hand, but he tells me that the screen has gone all grey and black? And there's no icon to power it up/off?

I wonder if it's reverted back to a default theme?

He's going to try the OS re-install later.
