Can I change how often it checks my pop account for email?

Can I set it to not get/check for mail in standby?

The email is pushed to your phone .. so there is no way to manually get it to " standby" - it will constantly be pushed to your device.

I turn off my mobile network from the "Options" menu when I don't want to receive my email on my phone. It's not required to use the Blackberry as a phone. It also saves me from having to delete all the emails that also go to my home computer. The only drawback is I can't access the internet when the mobile network is off.
