I just got my blackberry pearl 8130 a couple of days ago and I am trying to get the desktop manager to detect the device and it does not. The USB will charge the phone but the program does not find the device. Can you please help me with this? Thanks

try this:
1, Connect your blackberry to computer.
2, open you desktop manager.
3, click option connect setting.
4, make sure the setting is right.
