I've been lurking the forums for a while and finally decided to register!
I am trying to cut down on my cost for my plan and have almost had my Pearl 8130 for 2 years now. I want to know if i call using a calling card does that take from my long distance minutes or local minutes? If anyone knows of a cheaper way to make long distance calls I am open to suggestions!!
what kind of calling card are you using? as the one we offer only goes toward pay phones, post up your current account and what you want/need and ill help you build one im a rep for bell
1mb data
unlimited text
mini msg and caller ID
1000 Canadian long distance minutes
200ish (not exactly sure) local minutes
free evening and weekends after 9pm
around $280 a month
One of my friends has the exact same plan for almost 80% cheaper than mine is.
A long distance calling card (where you dial to the "special number" then the number you're trying to reach) draws from your local minutes.
Secondly, you REALLY need to look at what other plans are available because you are getting HOSED royally!
I get 450 daytime, 1500 sms, unlim N&W starting at 5pm, and unlimited data for 85 a month plus fee's and taxes, and I COULD get that lower if I wanted to settle for 500mb of Data a month, but I'd REALLY have to curb my usage.
you should be able to do alot better then what you have there for alot less.
i went with Smartphone Combo BlackBerry 45 Extended hours.
evenings and weekends start at 5 instead of 9.
100 local minutes plus 100 bonus local minutes
500 MB data for personal email, Internet browsing & instant messaging
Unlimited nights & weekends (5 p.m. - 7 a.m.) local calling
you shouldnt be anywhere near $280 though...

no typo. it's crazy. I worked on some things online and can the exact same plan saving over $150. I don't know why they wouldn't put me on that if it's the same and much cheaper. Any advice when calling and yelling at a bell rep? haha
Sorry for such a delay, work got me busy and some family things but...
this post here is exactly correct switch to this and youll be good. if you need long distance plan then add a seperate one.. much cheaper

I guess I'm going to have to try to call someone again, but I was on hold for over 45 minutes the past 2 times i called and it is closed by the time I get off of work.
EDIT : Finally got something accomplished. This is what I have now.
- 700 anytime local and long distance minutes1 (Canada to Canada &
Canada to the U.S.)
- Additional minute at $0.35
- Call Waiting
- Detailed Billing
- Conference Calling
- System Access and 911 fees at $9.70/ month
- Text Messaging 250 bundle at $5/ month
- BlackBerry 20 feature at $20/ month
$10 a month for system access fee is insane
edit 2 : Just called cuz my data or email doesn't work. They told me that the BB 20 plan is an old plan offered by Aliant and is no longer supported. In order to keep using my data they want to charge me $30 a month instead of the $20.
