That is because the 9100 never officially sold in the UK. You will have to find a way to buy an unlocked 9100 from a North American retailer willing to export it to you.
It is a mystery why RIM felt the need to deprive all of Europe the 9100 and sending only the 9105 without at least sending both.
I must be a LUCKY guy then because I have one of the rare 9100 in UK:) The 9100 can be purchased in the UK but it is not cheap. try here:.........kickmobiles.com
I am desperately searching for one, can't seem to find it even online :(
I got my 9100 from Canada, when Virgin sold them for 95 (or so) CAD. A friend of mine bought and sent it to me. I had to pay some import tax about 50 GBP to get it. :(
Got mine in the UK from eBay. A chap was selling them brand new with factory installed SK Telecom OS6 but they had a Korean keypad as he'd sourced them from South Korea.
Removed all Korean lamguages, bought a replacement English keypad (see my thread here) and changed it so now it's as good as a US one.
I think RIM missed a trick with not having a proper replacement for the Pearl, it's unbeatable for casual users who want BB email without carrying a large handset.
