I want to get a Motorola Motorokr S9 stereo bluetooth headset and was wondering if the 8100 was A2DP compatible.

The newest OS upgrade (4.3.1, which might not be available to you yet), adds A2DP support. My source is the crackberry blog entry on Nov 9th with the details. (Sorry CrackBerry doesn't let me include the link here.)
At the beginning of the month I published hands on proof that the soon to be released BlackBerry OS 4.3.1 would enable video recording on the Curve. In all the excitement surrounding that huge news, I neglected to notice a MAJOR improvement that OS 4.3.1 brought to my BlackBerry Pearl 8100 - A2DP Stereo Bluetooth Support!!!

Prior to OS 4.3.1, stereo bluetooth devices (like Motorola S9s or BluAnt Sonic Portable Speakers) would not work with my Pearl 8100. Installed the beta of OS 4.3.1 and Voila...they work!!!!

I wasn't very satisfied with my S9's. I bought them when they first came out for use with my bluetooth laptop. The sound from them seemed very tinny and the battery life was terrible. I got maybe 4 hours out of them. Might want to borrow a pair from someone before shelling out the bucks. JMO

The new OS, in this case 4.3, comes from RIM not T-Mo.

I thought A2DP was device dependant, and not related to the OS, per se'...

Of course, I've been known to be wrong from time to time.

My early research on my World Edition 8830 stated there was no support for stereo BT (A2DP) headsets, but when I got a Motorola S9 headset for Christmas, I was very surprised to discover they worked!

When I pair connect the S9 with my BB, I get three green check marks as follows: "Handsfree", "Stereo Audio" and "A/V Remote Control". Earlier today I could not get any profile but the "Handsfree" to work with my BB. I have a Moto Q as my personal cell phone and it worked perfectly...

I wonder if there is still a bug in the software revision?

I don't have enough posts in this forum to put up a URL, but if you go to the BlackBerry.com website and search for document KB13723 you will see the software update does address stereo BT/A2DP.

In anticipation of A2DP profile coming out soon for my 8100 pearl, I bought the s9. I can get the phone to run through one ear piece (the left one) of the s9, but not the meida player. No music at all. With out A2DP can I not use the media player? Any ideas?
