I have had the 8830 for about six months and have been extremely happy with the phone. But decide to get the Pearl 8130 and give the 8830 to the wife. Why? 8130 is more convenient to put in pocket, camera and hated the keys on the 8830(hate the flatness of keys and that blue lighting).

I activated the Pearl yesterday, did the firmware update to 4.3.0.97 and started using the phone.

Here are some of my observations and I'd like to ask if anybody else has noticed or experienced:

    1) 8830 seems to have much better phone reception. Static on 8130. More bars.(Verizon)

    2) 8130 is more sluggish. A lot more hourglass.

    3) Much better battery life on the 8830.

    4) More calls go to VM without ringing. VMs mysteriously show up.

    5) Still a memory leak after firmware update. After 1 day of use, lost sms and call logs. Free memory got down to 0 bytes.

    6) Bluetooth earpiece seems to sound better on 8830.

In looking back at the above list, I'm noticing that that's a lot of negatives for the 8130 over the 8830. Why am I keeping the 8130. How do I get the 8830 back?

Has anyone else notice any or all of the items above? Is this a case of a bad unit or just how the 8130 is?

    Thanks.

For #2 and 5, it's probably because the 8830 has more memory. As for #3, it's probably because the 8830 has a bigger capacity battery.

Not sure about the others but the Pearl isn't for everyone. If you were happier with the 8830, switch with your wife and give her the Pearl.
