For install instruction to load any carrier 8100 OS on your BB:
1. Download desired OS to your PC
2. Install/run OS to PC
3. Delete vendor.xml file. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader if the OS is not from your carrier.
4. Connect BB to Desktop Manager and it should prompt the upgrade. If not click app loader and that should initialize it.
5. Do not unplug BB during the process. It will take around 30-60 minutes to complete upgrade.

Downloaded and installed on AT&T 8100 last night and seems to be fine so far. Was running the latest AT&T 8100 build 4.5.110 that I had loaded a week or so ago. Been having problems with mail not sync'ing too good after updating to 110 but this one seems a little better. I am still having the issue of 1-2 minutes of hourglass when going in to look at pictures.
You did delete the "vendor.xml" file correct? If so, then try removing a memory card if you have one inserted and also do a battery pull and then let the bb boot up and settle for 5-10 minutes then try the update.
My BB Pearl 8100 is running 4.2.1.107 I have downloaded 4.5 OS to my computer. It will not load to my phone automatically can some one please help with this?

What are you doing to try to install it? Are you getting error messages?
It really is usually that simple. I think you may have missed a
step or two though
Did you delete the vendor.xml file?
Also, you may have to click Application Loader in Desktop Manager
and then click Start to get it running
I did delete vendor file. I have tried to use the app loader in DM Should I delete the whole thing and start over? do I need to upgrade DM? Plus I am using BB as modem is that messing things up?
Anyone else notice the HTML email working on this OS? I was a bit supprized. Just so everyone knows, i DO NOT have BES, only BIS with unlimited data and email via T-Mobile. When i did the other 4.5 i did not have HTML. Also this one seems to be alot smoother, no down/slow time like the first 4.5 load. Also i took the SD card out prior to running the OS upgrade, once the upgrade was complete, i put it back ina nd so far so good.
No problem. If you run into any other issues, post back here or shoot me a PM.
Ok I did it all the way as described. I have 4.5 DM downloaded OS 4.5 from blackberry.com the app loader said I am running the most updated software BUT when I go to about in my BB its still says 4.2.1.107. What am I missing?

Has anyone had problems rinning the download file? Couldn't get it to finish with firefox so went to IE and got the file. After i start the install, select a language It runs for a few seconds and goes to the finish screen saying the installer unexpectedly quit. I tred a couple more times and the same thing. I'm downloading again but thought I'd post during my 35k/sec download.
I did have that issue, but i went into add/remove programs and got rid of the old OS. Then downloaded the new one again and it worked fine. So far so good for me as of right now. The only thing i dont like is the browser. Saem as the other 4.5 load, they took the mobile view out of th eoptions. I use my phone for craigslist alot and the mobile view is so much nicer there.

I know you downloaded the new OS, but did you install it on your computer?
I tried to install this and my power crapped out on me, it was a the Load JVM. Apparently this takes a LONG (very underestimated) amount of time. I did start the upgrade initially with the desktop manager 4.6. will there be a backup of the phone available to restore? (settings wise) I am new blackberries and I am curious. I am performing the recover from the app loader, though once again JVM is taking its sweet *** time.
