So what is the difference? This evening I was being sent a few MMS and I couldn't retrieve them, I couldn't sign into y!messenger ect, it went back + forth between 1x and the lower case 1xev.

After a half hour or so I had the captital 1XEV and was free to use my BlackBerry!

So did the difference in the case say something about my connection and could it have been the reason for the general lag with my BlackBerry?

    Thx!

Yes, you need the capital letters to be connected to BB data. emails should still come and texts can still be sent

    1x or D - phone and SMS
1X - phone, PIN, SMS, MMS, email browser
    1XEV - same as 1X but high-speed

The same thing happened to my husband's new curve...all it took was a simple call to Verizon and they reset something...had me type in ##000000 and send and then enter some code.
