I have a new unlocked 8120 that I got on eBay that used to be TMo and now I use on AT&T. I want to wipe it clean and followed all the instructions I found here (and elsewhere) for doing a hard wipe. I DL'd the Desktop Software, the device software (from the AT&T site), and even JL_Cmder. I used JL_Cmder to wipe the phone completely clean (no OS...error 507). Then installed the device software, deleted the vendor.xml file and reinstalled the software.

When the device came on, it still had all the TMo stuff on there. I've done it three times with different device versions and still the same thing.

How do I get rid of the TMobile stuff and get as if I had bought it from RIM itself?

    Thanks

You don't. That is hard coded to the phone.

There are ways you can do it, but it is risky and ... hard work to be honest.
