I've been playing with the ringtones for a bit and for some reason I cannot get anything but a .MP3 to work as a ringtone and not any other file format. Is that just the way it is or is there something that I need to do in order to use other formats as ringtones? i.e. .WAV, .MID, etc...

Pretty sure MP3 is the only option.

I'm prett sure .waV and .midi files will work, all I have are mp3's because of the way I make them, I know a couple people have recorded sounds with their BB's and used them as alerts.

I thought I tried WAV and MIDI and they did not work... I will try them again tonight since I recently upgraded to the new BB OS they might work now.

I use a combination of .wav, .mp3, and .midi. The preinstalled sounds are .aac files so those should work as well.

I'm not sure why some people can't play .wav and .midi files but perhaps it's a new functionality of the newest OS .97.

what about on a 8703e? i cant get any new tones to be recognized
