Ok what is the icon to the left of the time. I have it on my phone and have no idea what it is.

It just means the GPS is turned on.

It's your Locator. It's currently set to "locate on" [options>advanced>GPS]

As ^^kristinlynn said, it's a GPS thing. Don't get all excited - we're still crippled by VZW. You don't have "working" GPS. Sorry.

If you turn the GPS locator off, the target icon will still be there, but the "wireless wave" will be gone. When I did it at first I though it was still on but there is a slight difference.

Thanks, it's kind of a reminder to the Verizon user (me) that we have it but can't use it. So now every time I see that icon it's like a punch in the face.

It's good to at least leave it set to "911 Only." Many 911 dispatch centers can locate you that way in case of an emergency.

(Yes, I work in public safety and I'm biased...haha.)

If you can't use it, turn it off. The GPS eats up battery life.

Options > Advanced Options > GPS > GPS Services - Location Off
