My battery has little red x's. I have never had it near water ever or even in my pocket. Is that the water damage indicator some people are talking about?

Those x's on the battery confuse me. For some reason I do not believe they are water indicators simply because if they get wet, its too easy to just replace the battery. I've never read anywhere definitively that those are wetness indicators.
On my Pearl, there is a small white tab under the bottom of the battery. If the battery was to get wet, the color would transfer to the tab as well. Two sources to indicate whether the phone got wet.
my phone got a little wet my hand was fairly wet when i picked it up i didnt touch any of the bottons tho, everything works fine now but my ball clicker stopped functioning when i try to click on an option
