This is my favorite theme. The only thing I would change about it is that the area where the time and date are displayed has a shadow around it. Is there any way to remove this? Or even make it smaller?

No..Unfortunately, there's no way to do that. The only thing you can do on a theme is:

1. Change the background pic
2. Hide icons
3. Reorder icons
4. Create folders for groups of icons

Other than that, you'd have to find a theme that you like.
