Recently I bought a 8100 off my friend for $10, since he got a new one.

At first I want to use it as my primary phone, but seeing it can't be unlock, I am planning to use it as a media player.

Is there anyway to erase all his info on the phone? And what kind of software do I need to load on there? What will be the best way to approach this?

Fastest way to wipe the device is to set up a password under Options > Security and enter it wrong until it wipes the phone. You'll be back to out of the box format.

You should be able to unlock it. Load the OS 4.5.0.81. It is still a very good phone. You will also get the new media player and larger capacity media card.

So all I have to do is load the new os on top and it will unlock it?
