I have the ugly blue pearl form alltel. Can i Swap out the case for a different color? If so, where is the best place to get all the parts and how hard will it be? thanks
i just got this one, but alltel only offers the blue, i was hoping to use the colorware.com to get that custom look i wanted, but the keypad is still blue, so im stuck until i figure out how to change the keypad, so i might as well change everything. i guess im just picky
just to let u know i work for alltel if u change the casing on the pearl u will void ur warranty but if u dont care go for it just dont want u to get screwed by the infamous alltel lol gl though
Of course.. its a given that hardware/firmware alterations will void the warranty of any carrier or manufacturer. A risk that must be personally decided.
My side rail or whatever those crome things are called has a pimple right near the screen. I have decided not to return it since everything else is fine. The cnn website does not have the sides for an 8130, but they do for the 8100. Now the 8130 differs in that the memory door is now external - but on the left side. So I could buy the side cover things for an 8100 and replace it using just the right side, correct??? Looking at the cnn web site it looks like the convenience key is in a different spot (lower) looking at the rails in the 8100 section. So can anyone comment if it will work.
Also what is the color of the Sprint model - if I were to need a battery door what color do I go with?

No, it will not work.. as you thought, the convenience keys are positioned slightly differently on the 8130 vs the 8100. Both side rails are different from the 8100.
Wow - that is a Palm type brilliant move from RIM. Oh well. I guess I wait for this cnn place to get the new rails. I wasn't to keen on taking my 17 day old phone apart anyway. Plus it will almost always be in a skin or case or whatever to wear I won't see the "blemish."

The skins look GORGEOUS applied. I have the golden knotwork one. A friend of mine at work said you couldn't even tell it didn't COME that way. Also, they don't leave a mess on your pearl if you decide to change.
Maybe that would be better than voiding your warranty?
