This may be a dumb questions- but I couldn't find an answer to it here...

I'm BRAND new pearl user, coming from a Treo 755p. I'm used to hitting the red phone button to turn off the screen when I'm done say checking a date in the calender. Is there a way to do this same action on the pearl? I get done looking at the calendar and then I don't know what to do...the red button doesn't turn the screen off. Is there another button that does this?

Welcome to CB!

There is not a button to turn the screen backlight off. It does it auotmatically.

If you want it to turn off sooner:

Options > Screen/Keyboard > Backlight timeout > 10 Sec

You can also hold the mute button in (the button on top)and put the phone in standby. Saves your battery! You still will get messages, calls, etc.

AHA! finally, a question that i know the answer to! along with holding the mute button you can hold the */sym button to lock the keyboard and the backlight will go out within seconds. i had a centro so i know the transition from palm to BB such as the turn off button and vibrate all switch, etc, but my pearl is a lot better and cooler.
