Switching from BIS to BES
- My company uses an Exchange Server and has the capability for BES. However, I've been getting my company emails via BIS for about a week now because the Verizon Wireless rep kind of forced me into it when I bought the phone... Being a newbie to the BB world, I had no clue what was going on and just followed directions.
I'm planning to switch over to BES and I have the following steps in mind:
1. Delete my company account from the Verizon BIS web service (delete account)
2. Delete the two service books that correspond to the BIS service
3. Set up BES
Are there any steps that I'm forgetting? Thanks in advance.03-12-08 07:46 AMLike 0 - The main reason for me is that I have exchange server rules set up for certain emails so they get filtered into sub folders. BIS doesn't handle sub folders but only delivers emails that land in the default Inbox.
Also, I heavily use Tasks, Calendar, and Contacts and have all my information stored on the exchange server. If I update a task or calendar event, I'd like for the change to take place on the exchange server OTA instead of having to sync it through the desktop manager.
In terms of the $15 a month, I'm on Verizon as well and I have the 900 minutes for $99.99/month plan. Does this plan conver BES?03-12-08 01:40 PMLike 0 - I also had my Exchange email coming in by way of BIS and then my IT guy got me set up on BES (we did the BES Express which is software you download and it is good for only one person).
The thing about the calendar is that all of the things that are already in your Outlook calendar do not then automatically show up on the berry. You will get a new calendar entry (and email entry too) that says Desktop. If/when you add things after the point of BES connection they will cross over. Everything that you already have in the berry will not just do it on its own. Hopefully I am making that clear as it is hard to explain.
Also - I do not have folder functionality unless I am doing something wrong. I can see my folders on my berry - but on the phone those folders are empty whereas in Outlook there are items in those folders.03-12-08 02:49 PMLike 0 - Could it be possible that this is due to BES Express? Maybe that'll explain why you don't have any items in your subfolders on your BB because the old items don't get carried over automatically.
Try sending an email that will filter to your subfolder and see if you get that on your BB and let me know. I'm curious.03-12-08 02:56 PMLike 0
