I got this from a facebook friend today but I have no idea what to tell her. Its not something Ive run into before with my Curve.

"my moms pearl works for email and messaging and the calls show up and she can call out but you dont hear the other person, speaker phone doesnt work AND the other person cant hear her, it is weird! we have shut the connections down, restrted reset & updated it but nothing... any suggestions?"

Any info you guys can give? Is this something common with the Pearl?

I've never heard of it. If she hasn't, have her remove the battery with the phone on, leave it out a few seconds, then put it back.
