Just got my first BB 8130 and I finally figured out how to set a MP3 as a ringtone for my calls but I cannot figure out how to set a song or any sound other than the pre loaded tones as my alert for a message? To set the ringtone for my calls I simply did it in the media player by openning up the options for a song and selecting set as phone tune, but this only works for selecting it as my calls ringtone. Does anyone know how I can fix this issue?
Go into Profiles > Advanced > Scroll down to the profile you want to change > menu > Edit > SMS Text > Change your ringtone there > menu > Save.
Profiles > Advanced
Highlight desired profile
Menu > Edit > SMS Text
Choose new ring tone for in and out of holster!
Exit > Save
DONE!!
Altogether now VZWBBNewb... ;)

What if I want to set a specifice ringtone for an SMS message for a specific person in my address book, is that possible??
How do you set a ringtone for a SMS message on a BlackBerry Curve 8330??????
It should be the same process as above. Did you read the instructions posted in the thread? Did it not work?
