Maybe this isn't an issue I should address in here, but since there a lot of super smart individuals, I'm going to try.

I purchased a 2 GB micro card for my 8130. I put it in my card reader at home to transfer MP3s and pictures onto it...(might I add I'm not a huge fan of the Desktop Manager), and my computer asked me to format it, not a big deal. However, when I went to format the disk, my computer read the disk as being 1 GB. Curious.

So, I bought another, just to see. No problem with the new one. So, I put the old one back into the computer, even tried using it directly from the 8130...but both read it as a 1 GB.

    Anyone???

I'm at a loss. I'm normally decently versed with technology, but I can't figure this one out...maybe I should just try to bring it back to the Verizon store.

Thank you in advance. Maybe this is an easy fix and will just show how much I think I know and dont.

same problem here with a pny
put the flash directly into the BB and go into Media Card > format it from there and it will give you about 1.8 or 1.9 gigs after the pearl has formatted it.

Yes, completely normal, a small percentage is used for the format/directory structure.

not even reading the card as 1.8 or 1.9...totally as 987 (or something close) MB. Not even 1.

Sounds like your 1st card was either a 1GB card or defective 2GB.. definitely return it.

Also better to have the device format your card rather than your PC.

Thanks everyone! I'll bring it back - but I have to admit...so very frustrating! I'm thinking 4 or 6 GBs would be oh so lovely!

    Thanks again!

I just bought an 8gb card. It's a Sandisk and it came with a little USB adapter too. I inserted it into the BB and it was immediately recognized correctly. Free space was 7.6gb (which is correct). I didn't even need to format it, but I did just to be safe. I loaded music, ring tones, docs and a ton of photos without a hitch. One thing I will recommend though:remove the card from the BB and copy your files directly from PC to the card. Much faster.

Yep, the card is already formatted, the BB just needs to build the directory/file structure when you first insert the card... which it will do automatically.

Unless GG knows something I don't, which is a boat load, I don't even think with the current OS software it can handle the 12gb.

He's in the kitchen getting some cookies and milk. I'm sure he'll chime in in a sec.
