can I set up a different ringtone for various callers??
ie: have one ringtone for family phone numbers and something different for other callers? if yes, what steps? (pearl 8130)

Sure can...

Address Book>choose contact>Menu>Add Custom Ringtone

And for multiple people, Go to Profiles>Advanced

Look for Exceptions. There you can add multiple people to an exception and set them up with a specific ringtone.
