So, I've got an 8120 with OS 4.5 but I can't see emoticons or pics in emails. It said that I didn't need BBsmart email viewer if I upgrade to 4.5 anyone know how I can see pics, emoticons and links in an email?

Go into Personal Email Setup and send service books. You will need to re-sync your email with your BB. The changes are not retroactive, only future emails will show pictures. In each email you will need to go to Menu->Get Images.
