I've been waiting to get a Pearl for quite a long time (6 years!). Only now are they starting to come out with all the features I want.

I have been reading that in order to get onto the internet you need a data plan. This goes even for the WiFi 8120.

I'm wondering what use the WiFi will actually have if a data plan is still required?

I was hoping that having the WiFi I would by-pass needing a data plan to gain access to the internet at a hot spot.

Therefore, is there real any advantage in waiting for the 8120 due to the WiFi?

    Cheers,

    Jay

from what people had told me, you don't need the data plan, just like you thought because of the wifi ability. You will be able to access data once in a wifi covered zone.

But please correct me if the rumor is wrong

You will need the BB Data Plan , or the BB will still be limited in its capability.

I get needing a data plan to access emails through pop3 or whatever it is. (sorry don't know the lingo yet)

However, just to access the internet through WiFi do you still need a data plan?

Haven't gotten too many opinions on this...

Rogers has now got the 8110 for sale.

So the only difference between the 8110 and 8120 will be the WiFi.

Can someone please let me know what advantages the WiFi will actually have over non WiFi 8110?

I'm guessing the only real difference will be the ability to access the internet at a hot spot? Other than that nothing??

Does anyone with a WiFi BB care to share how much they actually use WiFi?

    Thanks,

    Jay

Doh! I must be loosing my mind because for what ever reason I thought the 8120 also had GPS.

Therefore, I've made my decision to go with the 8110!
