My 8130 just recently started to delete all messages immediately. I thought maybe it was set to not keep any records, but all settings are normal. I guess I'm to take it to VZN but wanted to know what you guys thought.

What you're experiencing is the normal result of running out of free memory. You don't need to return your phone. Check your Options / Status / File Free. If it's less than 12 000 000 bytes, that's why you're losing data. Do a battery pull first. That will recover some memory. The solution is to run the CrackBerry Memory Optimization Procedure that you can find in the How To and FAQ Forum.

Sounds like you have low file free memory. Go to Options - Status. What does it say next to File Free?

You need at least 12000000bytes for your phone to work properly. With low memory it will start deleting messages and call logs to free up memory.
