I'm triing to install the new OS. I followed the instructions at "http://crackberry.com/blackberry-101-how-install-or-upgrade-new-rim-operating-system-os" but it says no updates available. Any idea what I did wrong?

what says no updates available DM? if so did you open and install?
os has to first be installed on your pc

I installed it on pc. It asked if I want to open DM. I did and nothing happens. I click on app loader and it says "no update required for this device" When the OS software loaded it asked if I want to repair or remove. It didn't say upgrade. I clicked repair.

you do have a newer version than whats on the phone right?

Yes. I tried to start over. A window came up saying "the install wizard will let you repair or remove software for my phone."
The software i downloaded is "BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.82 (Multilanguage) (72.837 Mb) "
Is that right? I followed the link from here.

Did you remove the vendor.xml? Until you do, DM wont find the newest OS.

.82 is the build. the actual os is probably .55 let me go look

yeah thats os v4.5.0.56. .82 is the build. And like lex said you did delete vendor.xml? I assumed you had since you said you followed the 101 guide

Yes I deleted the vendor.xml.

double check you deleted it, close dm disconect from pc. Reboot just for good measure. then start dm connect phone run app loader
see if that works. If not i'll go find you a genius.

I went in to see if vendor.xml was in there, it was, but when I opened it, it was a huge page of info. Not like the first one I deleted. i did what you said and it seems to be loading now. Thanks for all the help. I really appreciate it.
