This is my friend's phone and her keypad got locked somehow. The screen says to press the * send key to unlock, which I am doing, but it's not working.
How do you do a soft reset on this phone? I know how to do it on my Curve, but what are the keys to do it on this one? I�ll try the two soft resets and see if that does it first before I try a battery pull.
Try pressing them one after another rather than at the same time. I've found it has a tendency to 'stick' sometimes and not register the keypress.
To the best of my knowledge I don't think there's a button combination for a soft reset. I believe the only way to soft reset the pearl is to do a battery pull.
If the keypad isn't responding at all then it sounds like it's a hardware issue rather than a software one. If it's still in warranty then I suggest you try taking it back to where it was purchased and getting an exchange.
I think it's on the inside, under the battery cover (next to the battery connector pins). If it's white then you're fine, if it's red though it means it has water damage.
I've just looked at mine (8120). There an indicator on both the battery and the phone. The one on the battery has a red line through it - I assume that if it gets wet this then bleeds the colour onto both indicators - the red line, or in some cases an 'x', doesn't mean there is water damage.
As your friends is white the it doesn't sound like there's any water damage.
