I just purchased my first blackberry. My previous phone had e-mail but it is totally different. I want to sync my pearl with the calendar in outlook. Do I have to use the desktop manager or can I just put in a command in on the pearl. I added items to the blackberry calendar but they are not showing up in out ook. Thanks for helping a newbie.

You need to install Desktop Manager and configure the Synchronization tool to connect between your phone and Outlook. I would recommend going to BlackBerry to download the latest version of Desktop Manager.

BTW, what version of Outlook?

It works great, I've had no problems with this and the replicating (updating you phone/outlook) works real well too.

If you want to do it from your phone only, then abandon outlook and you can travel down the road of Google Apps. Your email, Calendar, contacts - online and on your phone. I haven't travelled that road yet, but my Brother has and swears by it.

It's just I'm still pretty attached to my outlook... for now.
