Found PIN inside pearl, but select device wouldn't allow me to enter it.

My DM shows versions 4.6 and 7.1. Can I delete the earlier version and still complete the upgrade to my Pearl?

What do I have to do about entering my PIN so I can move forward with upgrade?

The pin would be the password set, you know...for security. What do you mean by
device wouldn't allow me to enter it
If there's an upgrade for your Pearl, either DM would work.

For the 8100, the last OS ever made for it was 4.5.0.182.

For the old legacy BBOS devices, every OS is made for specific devices. You can't just load any OS on to the 8100. It has to be made for it, and there is no 4.6, much less 7.1, for the 8100.

That was my original interpretation, but reading it twice, I believe the OP is referring to DM with regard to 4.6 vs 7.1. 4.6 I felt performed best, but performance was hit and miss as Windows upgraded.

The final iteration of the Pearl (9200/9205?) got 6.0. Not knowing which Pearl the OP has, I threw the thread in here cause I'm nostalgic.

See I have one of the 8100 series Bb, like 8130 or something but don't know how to pinpoint which I have. My thread says OS 4.6 and the new one I downloaded from this site says 7.1. Problem is when it asks for PIN on DM it won't let me enter anything. It will let me type on the password line though. I'm perplexed.

The Desktop Managers have got to be performing flaky at best by now, and most likely your Pearl is already as updated as it can get, last release being over 8 years ago. Just enjoy it for what it is. The 8100 was my first BlackBerry, back in 2007. Loved it!

The 8100 was my first BlackBerry in 07 as well. My wife and I both got one - a black one for me and a red one for her.

Unfortunately, she moved on to the iPhone 3G after two years. I kept mine for another year and a half before upgrading to the Torch 9800.
