I was trying to upgrade my pearl (verizon 8130) to the newest OS (sticky at top of forum 4.5.0.89> I backed the phone up first then I downloaded and installed the software to my pc. Then went and deleted the vendor.xml file. Then I hooked up my pearl and started the update. About half way through I get a message saying their was an error during a multi load process. Ive upgraded my OS before with no problems on this phone. So now the phone is stuck in limbo. There is a small black square with a triangle, square and a circle inside of it and then the bigger square has a circle around it with a line going through it. I think it means no OS. Problem is the desktop manager wont recognize the phone and now I cant reload my backup or update. It wont do anything. Windows now says it cant recognize the device.

    PLEASE HELP

Is there an advantage to 89 over 77? Seems easier to just install the vendor specific OS.

The device is failing to initialize...this is the error message I receive:Unable to reconnect to the device during a multi-stage load operation. I followed the "how to reload a nuked device" how to and this is what happened. Anybody have any ideas?

It's not f'ed up at all - it's actually part of the wiping the phone process and is very repairable.

Crackmem is amazing and can walk you through the process. It's a free program (although I donated because it rocks and I would suggest that for anyone that uses it) and should be a best friend to anyone who "works" on their own device: http://http://forums.crackberry.com/...eleased-52044/

Also this link is exactly what you're doing and even addressed the issue you're having: http://http://forums.crackberry.com/...ocedure-53359/
