OK, this is strange. I am helping a friend figure out their BlackBerry Pearl and I am confused. ( I have a Curve, BTW)...

I'm trying to help him check his messages (text). He has a yellow envelope at the top that says 5 - he has 5 messages... So, when I click on the Message icon, it does nothing but show me his call log. It has the name of the person he called, or who called him and whether it was a Missed Call, Placed Call, Received Call... but no text messages.

Why is this call log showing up under his message icon? And how can you get rid of that?

That's just one of the problems he's having - but I'd like to get that one tackled first. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The call log is showing up in Messages because the following is set:
Phone > Options > Call Logging > Show These Call Types in Message List = All Calls

He should set it to None if he wants them to NOT appear in the Messages list.

As far as his text messages not appearing in the Messages module... he may have them in a separate icon for SMS messages.
Check this setting and let us know what it's set to:
Messages > Options > General Options > SMS and Email Inboxes = ?
