I have had my 8310 for 2 weeks now. When I roll the trackball, it feels grainy. My trackball on my old 8100 rolls smooth. Is the 8130 supposed to feel grainy? I prefer the feel of the 8100.

There seems to be 2 different trackballs out there, the gritty one and the smooth one. When I got my 8130 and my wife got her 8330, both had the gritty trackball. A friend of mine had the 8100 and that one was smooth. I ordered another trackball off cnn and that one was smooth.

Do you think I could put the smooth one from my 8100 in my 8310?

You can change the "feel" and "sound" of the trackball. Maybe you have yours set so you can hear the "clicking" of the trackball. I forgot how I set mine, but I need to reset it so I don't hear the clicking. I don't like it.

OK I just remembered how do change the track ball from "click" to mute.
I went to options, then screen/keyboard. Ahhh...much better! I really hated that clicking sound and feel!
I don't know if that's what you were talking about, but I'm good now with my "muted" trackball!

It should pop right out and drop right in. If you do a search there's some threads around on how to take out your trackball.

I have had 2 8130s and both had grainy trackballs. Just the way it is for this model I guess.

I like the grainy feel vs. the smooth feel personally. It's better for brickbreaker, I can feel exactly when I roll the ball But that's just me

I have changed all this. It not the same as my smooth one.

Thank you BlackberryGuy, I will try that.

I don't play BrickBreaker so that shouldn't be a problem.

The trackball that came with my 8130 grainy and I like it better than the smooth ones due to better traction
