Go to settings>advanced>GPS. If it's there, then you need Blackberry Maps or, even better, Google Maps.

If the GPS option isn't there, then I have no idea. I have an unlocked 8110, and it's there.

You have to have a data plan to take advantage of the GPS feature.

the 8120 doesn't have GPS. It does have wi-fi though so could use the internet if you were in range of a wi-fi signal. Why not get a data plan? Did you get the phone new?

Just get the SEP and gps is included. So you will not have to turn it off.

Check in the GPS apps thread here. There is a rather good GPS application put together by several forum members that allows access to GPS data with no data plan. You can't get maps without a data plan but you can see coordinate location speed and altitude, set waypoints etc. The app is called blackstar.

No I'm sorry It doesn't. You have BB maps or you can use Google maps etc. But it uses cell tower triangulation which is only accurate to 1500 meters at best. The 8110 has a built in GPS that is capable of turn by turn directions and is accurate to within 5 meters. But don't take my word for it. Here are the device specs from RIM BlackBerry - Pearl Your 8120 does NOT have GPS, Sorry.

Someone should sew Google for false advertising by calling it "My location." (Of course we can't sue cause the app is free ) But seriosuly, most of the time im not even in the shaded blue circle that it says im in. All it does is tell you the location of the cell tower your using and it shades the area around it. So if anyone is planning on getting an 8120 and want location services, either buy a GPS puck or get an 8130/8110.

Ha, I know. I used Google maps today for something and it said my location within 3900 meters which is 2 and a half miles!
