I have retired msn. I'm really digging Yahoo. I installed Yahoo msnger on my Pearl 8130. Works perfect on the yahoo side. However, when I add people to my contacts who use msn menger, none of the msn contacts work.
The capability of Yahoo! Messenger (Y!M) on the desktop to talk to MSN is a relatively recent thing (widely available beta test versions started in summer 2006). The current Yahoo! Messenger for Windows can:
1. Send messages to Windows Live Messenger (WLM, formerly MSN)
2. Receive messages from WLM
3. Tell when WLM buddies are online.
The BlackBerry version can only do #1. I wonder if they are planning to add the other functionality to it. I'm hoping thery are.
JiveTalk works with both, but it's not free, and I still like the Y!M application better. (JiveTalk seems to be able to send files to both types of buddies, though, and Y!M for the desktop still can't do it with WLM users.)
