Did you go into settings and have DM search for your BB?

You should be downloading the ones from T-mobile. That may be your problem.

Sounds like windows isnt even detecting a device is attached. How much time are you giving it to detect? I've had to let my BB sit for up to 60 seconds before the system even acted like anything was connected before DM finally recognized the device. If you have been messing around with the connection settings you should probably try to undo all of that and go back to default. The desktop software/OS version should have no affect on anything here, unless you're loading an OS for a different phone or something.

I am another newbie so I don't know alot about this stuff...

Not sure if there's a big difference but I'm running v4.2.067 on my phone and running 4.3 for the DM and mine does ok. At one point it didn't recognize my phone so I just unplugged it and plugged it right back in while DM was still open. It found it with no problem then. You may want to try 4.3. I dowloaded through CNET via RIM's website.
