Here's my short-version OS install guide if anyone needs a refresher...

    ELITE1's Quick OS6 UPGRADE GUIDE

    1. (Optional) Uninstall any previous OS from your PC.
    2. Download OS to PC. Use Internet Explorer to do so, not Firefox or Chrome. (For leaked versions, the browser is irrelevant though.)
    3. Following successful DL, run OS file to install OS on PC.
    4. On BB, go to BBM Options, scroll down to Backup section. Ensure Remote Backup is enabled AND also conduct a Local Backup to media card.
    5. Go through any 3rd party apps that have option to save settings to media card, and conduct Backup to media card from menu within each of these apps. (Examples: all Bellshare apps such as BerryBuzz & BerryWeather; QuickLaunch; Shao's apps such as Wallpaper Changer & SixTools; Show Me The Images; etc).
    6. Connect BB to PC. Open DM and backup device. Close DM.
    7. (Optional) Use desktop program like BBSAK or BBMCP to backup 3rd party apps.
    8. On PC, navigate to
64-bit: Computer/C:/Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Research In Motion/AppLoader and delete file therein called Vendor.
      32-bit: Computer/C:/Program Files/Common Files/Research In Motion/AppLoader and delete file therein called Vendor.
    9. (Optional/Recommended) Run BB Boss or Shrink-A-OS/BBHybrids Tool.
    10. In same AppLoader file where you deleted Vendor, double-click on Loader to initiate OS upgrade. Follow onscreen instructions.

PS I've posted this before in other threads, but there always seems to be some people that appreciate a step-by-step each time.

By the way, file name is:

    9100_9105M_PBr6.0.0_rel2474_PL6.6.0.207_A6.0.0.546 .exe

    This means:
    1. Yes, it works on 9100 and 9105
    2. It's a Multilanguage release. (Yes, that means English is included.)

You cannot download this via the BlackBerry.com Downloads page yet.

To download, do not bother clicking the Download link or the exe file icon seen here, as they just take you back to the same page:

Instead, simply scroll to the bottom of the page, and click the red button shown below. (It says "Accept" in German.)

I never understood why anyone would bother using a mirror for an officially released OS. Why trust someone else's upload when you can download direct from RIM or a carrier?

Sure you can, it's just a little extra work, especially the first time.

You must partition or set up a virtual Windows environment. Then you'll install the DM for Windows and the OS and load it just as a PC user would.
I know some Mac owners have used Bootcamp or VMWare Fusion. There are more programs to facilitate this too, but I don't recall them off the top of my head.

Do a little searching of the Forums, and you'll be able to find more in-depth advice on this, from people more knowledgeable than I am on this subject.

i don't know if this is the right place to bring up my problem. but after successfully installing this new software on my pc, loader.exe doesn't read it, it's connecting to my device smoothly and after clicking on "next" it's just listing the apps installed in my device (no new software no nothing) & yes i've uninstalled previous versions, n deleted vendor.xml. any help is appreciated

I've already tried that too, but it redirects me to the loader app, n thus experiencing the same problem. Any other suggestion, n thx for the quick reply. Peace!
