- It might be interesting to see the similarities and differences of what brought some of us to the BlackBerry Passport.
(I just realized that this is going to sound like it's a testimonial from an AA member) Anyways, my journey was a bit odd. I started my smartphone experience with the BlackBerry Pearl 8130 and then went to the Storm 2 and then to the Bold 9650. I fell in love quickly with BlackBerry and told myself I would never leave for another smartphone. Well, that didn't last long. I was enticed to Android from my Bold and spent the next 5 years chasing the fastest and biggest smartphones out there thinking that it was all about speed and apps and staying current. The only device I stayed longer than a year with was my Samsung Galaxy S3. That phone did me pretty well. But I HATED typing on virtual keyboards! AHH! So around Christmas of '14, I told my wife I wanted to get an old BlackBerry and just be content with a reliable phone with a physical keyboard and stop the rat race of getting all these smartphones year after year. After all, I had an iPad for apps and such. She thought it was an odd idea and that I couldn't go back to BlackBerry and be content. We were on Verizon at the time. So I found a used Bold 9930 on ebay and bought it and sold my LG G2.
I was very happy with my decision, until I realized that BlackBerry had much newer phones than the 9900. I honestly had stopped following BlackBerry for a while, so I was in the dark. The only 4G BlackBerry phone Verizon had was the Q10, so I got that phone off ebay and fell in love all over again. BB10 wowed me! I slapped myself for ever leaving BlackBerry as I typed flawlessly once again on that beautiful physical keyboard. I then told myself that I wasn't leaving, BlackBerry was my home.
I had wanted a Passport the first time I saw it, but I was locked into a contract with Verizon and didn't want to pay those fees and pack up my entire family for AT&T just to get the Passport. BUT fast forward a year and a half, and our contract was up with Verizon and the Passport was so intriguing to me. I talked my wife into switching to AT&T so I could get the Passport. She even wanted one by this point. So we did. I got myself a black OG and her a white version and we have been using this monster for close to a year now. All I can say is thank you BlackBerry for making this device! I have stopped all smartphone chasing. The more I use the Passport, the more I love it. #LongLiveBlackBerryPassport #LongLiveBB1002-17-17 01:09 PMLike 3 - Journey to the passport was summer of 2016, I was fishing on my boat in rural saskatchewan Canada, took in some water and I was using two Chinese model Oukitel k10000. Those had the 10,000mah battery that lasted for days. Both phones got ruined on the same day. I was tired of iphones because I have battery needs as a heavy user.. Saw an article about Kim Kardashians bold and decided to get a 9900 for nostalgia sake, then read about the blackberry passport, went to sasktel to try it out, it was like magic and surprised I hadn't gotten one, ordered it off ebay the same day, got a white, then realized there was a silver.... uh ohhhh. But haven't decided to get a spare yet because of how many phones I've destroyed in a short period of time.
Rip to the odd oukitel k10000 that led to the passport

On the road from Alberta to the states various stares and back again to Canada, various provinces, repeat above, and again.... I had a Motorola bag phone wired into the tractor but, was a nuisance when out of. Truck. BB Storm was on the market and looked interesting. I am a diehard Mac fan since 1987 but as the iPhone was new thought that BB wasmor experienced. No regrets. I liked the Storm but it let me down in N BC and I had to have phone. Went into a cell pone store I Grande Prairie but could not get the Storm repaired ASAP so left the store with a Bold 9700. Good phone and I eventually got the Storm fixed and used over the Bold
Time passes and was reading about the Storm ll, sounded better than the Storm so bought one on EBAY. Loved it would still be using it if Telus hadn't dropped CDMA. BB brought the Z30, I liked the ads so bought one, that was in the fall of 2013. Great phone mine still is. When the Passport first came out I said yup new phone for me but, didn't need two phones and the Z30bwas still going strong. The RED one came about and I drooled over that one. The SE showed up and I almost bought it if it want for the life the Z30 was showing. Blackberry had a couple of sales and then the SE's were gone, Amazon had 10 left then 8 and then I said screw it. So now I am learning to type on a key board again on my new SE. Some where there's a Z30 God smiling at my retired Z30, I retired to so it is not alone.

I was happy with that phone and with BB10 until September of that year when my device started to heat up and drain its battery really fast for no apparent reason. I eventually sold it the following month and looked for my next phone. Fortunately, BB had already released the Passport at that time, so I waited for a good deal. And in December of 2014 I was able to buy a black OG Passport. Still using it up to now.. =)

Then it broke (red light of death), wasn't going to repair it because at that time BlackBerry was falling down in Malaysia, so the service centre was hard to come by. Then my mom bought an iPhone 6, I used for almost year & half that torture me. Then I found the Z10 at my home when I'm cleaning up then I remembered how awesome it was.
Then the next day I bought another Z10. I was happy & keep my iPhone away for about 3 month or something then the Z10 was broke due to the sim card pin breaking. . So I backed with my iPhone 6 again. Then I sold my iPhone 6 for the BlackBerry Passport OG, guess what? It's the best decision ever! BlackBerry Passport OG are like 10000 times better than iOS, & 10000 much beautiful than iPhone 6. Now I am typing on my BlackBerry Passport OG. & never want to go back to another OS!

Notice that I've never swum mainstream, and I regret not getting introduced to BlackBerry early on. Flash forward to spring 2014, and my iPhone 4s went kaput. I happened to be browsing at the Verizon store, and stumbled across a Z30. I was intrigued by this device, particularly BB10. I didn't even consider the Q10 since a friend who worked at the at&t store discouraged me from getting that phone. Anyway, I soon became a happy camper with my Z30. I hated its camera, and soon drifted to the Lumia 1020 with its monster 41MP camera. Then I finally bought my long-awaited iPhone 6 Plus.
Just after New Year's in 2016, I thought about a dual-phone solution. So I got my Cobalt Blue Classic. Unfortunately later that year it got stolen, and I ended up getting a VZW Q10 as my BB10 "bombshelter" device for the BB10 apocalypse. I didn't like swiping up from the glass bottom and looking for little x's to close windows; I clearly missed the toolbelt. I got a new Classic last fall.
Over the holidays, my laptop was unavailable, and I tried to do some mission critical, time-sensitive task on my Classic, but it couldn't keep up with me. I noticed my sister easily accomplishing said task on her white Passport. I started to keep track of Passport prices. I lost track because of my wait for the Mercury, and then earlier this month realized the Passport SE was gone from ShopBlackBerry. Sure enough, just as Classic prices skyrocketed, so have those for the Passport SQW100-4.
So today I dove in and bought a new one on eBay for less than $350 USD. It was the best I could do to have a new BB10 daily driver, while adding to my BB10 collection. I'm getting older, and life is short, so I need to enjoy the Passport's speed while I can. I still tote that iPhone, and I recently added a Samsung Galaxy J3 6 V as my Mercury placeholder on Big Red. But for one of my T-Mobile lines, I've now apparently retired my Classic for a Passport. Can't wait to receive my SE!ratfinkstooley and anon(3732391) like this.02-20-17 11:36 PMLike 2 - No exciting story for me. It was release day...i wanted I bought, I moved on once the Priv was released. Priv was gone as soon as the dtek60 was released.
Passport was an awesome device , possibly the best BlackBerry ever built, but I've moved on. Enjoy it whole you can, I'm sure you have many years left.Avenzuno and ratfinkstooley like this.02-20-17 11:42 PMLike 2 - Your reply would have been perfect if you had just stopped after the first sentence.. well, you're not up to full sentences yet, but.. hey, I'm celebrating Family day today because just about every city in the U.S was celebrating "It's not presidents day." I mean, there were rallies all over the country... But, today, I'm closed.. so hold off on a reply because, well... I'm closed!02-21-17 01:12 PMLike 0

Sounds like you have a bit of problem multi tasking.
You're not alone. I tried walking and chewing gum once and I tripped!02-21-17 01:15 PMLike 0 - I was quite content with a Nexus 4, except I hated typing on it. Gave a passport a go, even though I'd never had a Blackberry before, it's honestly been a much better experience than I anticipated, zero problems and I can live with the app shortcomings, for instance Uber's android app wouldn't work, then did, then stopped working again... Luckily I can use their mobile site. Kindle puts it into a tail spin, bit it's secondary. Blend started working again, it's really comfortable to use.ratfinkstooley likes this.02-21-17 01:58 PMLike 1

- I actually did a lot of research originally with the passport and wasn't sure if I was going to purchase one. I had gotten pretty deep into the android ecosystem and was quite content flashing roms and kernels and things on the nexus devices and my samsung note 3.
I saw a couple of reviews on the passport and started watching some of the YouTube videos. I fell in love with the unique design and just the simplicity of it. I missed having the pkb and went for it.
I have come and gone a few times but always seem to end up with a passport back in hand.

I mean, you can take your device with you on your journey, but unless you're Carjackd, who gets excited due to his meds and doesn't know what "journey" means, well,
to save yourself from "ME" I think, hey, it's just a small handheld mobile device and there comes an age when you should stop caring what kind of device other people have...
That age is 11
Now, if you want to really know about someones journey make it interesting, And don't wait too long. There';s a very good chance that some really unstable guy may send us all to our destination very soon!02-21-17 02:12 PMLike 0 - I actually did a lot of research originally with the passport and wasn't sure if I was going to purchase one. Tray? Can I call you Tray?? I feel the need to suggest that you do not base your decisions on the advice of people who don't have to deal with the results. Many people here are in denial about there even being a a Blackberry Passport with anything but a dead ( not working) OS. on it.
