My daughter was doing some homework (summer college class). I was looking at a post on CB with pictures of the Passport. I was curious to get a raw impression from her.
I showed her only one photo of Chen holding the new phone and asked her opinion. I was quite shocked to hear her say: "Wow, that's hot". This is coming from a 17 year old iPhone 5s social butterfly.
The Passport GRABS people and pulls them in! From there they say "what, that's a BlackBerry? " I expect a big splash and shake up with this device.

One opinion is meaningless, but I've shown the pictures to generally non-BlackBerry people and none have been actively hostile. Others expressed curiosity.

The Passport will definitely get attention, and if BlackBerry executes on the keyboard I think they have a chance.

Because, one thing is getting attention, another is selling it.

They could have made a blob shaped phone, it would get attention for sure, but won't sell.

For all those who hate the design of passport... I don't think that its a phone which will be liked by everyone;
Passport will target a different set of people, who mean serious business
I can say its a "No Stupidity" Phone. (No gloss, no makeup, no curves, just the necessities )

I don't know... I like what I've seen of the Passport, but everyone I've showed/shared pics of it initially thought it was a joke (like those ever lengthening 'concepts' of the iPhone 7, 8, 9, 10).

So... let's hope BlackBerry isn't banking on first impressions.... : /

Well I have considered that I've spent a lifetime trying to teach them critical thinking and to think for themselves. And that in itself makes them a minority unfortunately. It was not always so. And, of course, it was a not at all massive sample of one.

Yea my 16 year old is a Samsung Zombie. She thinks the Note 3 is the best thing since the invention of the flush toilet. And I have to say....if I could afford it I would have had the Note 3 as a second device but I picked up the Mega instead..

Soooo my fiance is age 25 and went from a 9700 over a 9900 to a Sony Xperia Z2, which she bought 2 months ago. The Sony is in for a warranty repair/replacement for the second time since today and when I showed her the Passport she was like

"OMG that's hot.....now I regret buying this crappy Sony."

Noteworthy is she's very into pop/lifestyle/media/celebs. On yet another note, since she has a more sophisticated and exclusive taste, she hates iPhones and Galaxy devices.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the looks don't matter too much so long as this thing walks the walk, not just talks the talk. It could look like a turd for all I care. If it gets me through the day a little smoother, i'm all over it!
