- To my surprise I was refunded almost $150 for my Passport with the total on the card coming to $499.XX. Just wanted to post this for those that may want to give it a try. I called and spoke to some random male rep and stated, "I am dissatisfied with my purchase of the BlackBerry Passport as I am aware that others are receiving 25% off of their devices with a coupon code and may refuse delivery at this point." The rep then asked for the coupon code, which I gave (I believe it is SHOPBBSAVE15 - may want to double check that in the other thread). I was asked why others were getting 25% off on a 15% off coupon code and I told the rep that this is how it has worked and I know many that have ordered through shopblackberry from CrackBerry and were given a 25% discount on their Passport.
The rep then asked if the coupon was valid on any other devices and I stated (thanks to the other thread) that the coupon code was only valid for a limited time for the BlackBerry Passport and would not work for the Z's or Q's. I was told that an email will be sent out to their billing department with the information I noted. Checked my credit card the other day and to my surprise I was actually refunded and ended up being billed with the original showing on my card and a credit a week or so after. I have been using my Passport since 10/7 as well to put this into perspective and at the time my Passport was scheduled to be delivered that Monday (I called on a Saturday).
So for those that know the coupon code, I think it would be a good idea to at least try. I really was OK with the original price as it is a premium device and was not going to be going back and forth via telephone or email with Digital River, but one simple phone call resulted in a Passport for less than $500 with tax... definitely worth a shot for those that have not tried. Just thought I would share since I was in no way expecting the credit to appear as I did not escalate or go back and forth with DR about this. The credit appeared after I had already received my Passport as well and am just posting now as I took a quick look at my transactions on my credit card. Maybe this will help a few get a discount or at least make one simple phone call and who knows; it may go through!10-18-14 09:08 PMLike 0 - Wow..
Honestly? You are a mule synonym.
Do I even have to explain myself?

You said you were going to refuse delivery because of an expired coupon. Do you even know how promotions or deals work? Arghh I raged.
1/10 because you made me reply.
Please, do not attempt this.
AHHHH10-18-14 09:29 PMLike 3 - Come on people,.. do you want BlackBerry be able to afford to make another device?
Ah well,.. hopefully they just learn to be as big as jerks about it and say "sorry, no rain checks."

- Wow guys... as I said in the original post I did not mind at all paying full price for the device as I feel it is a premium device. The coupon was up Friday I believe. I was on a grandfathered Verizon unlimited data plan and really going back and forth about switching. I even canceled my order on the DR website early Friday morning only to get a shipment notification Friday evening. I actually did intend to refuse delivery at that point.
I saw the coupon code thread that was running while driving to the races on Saturday and a few people talking about getting partial refunds so I figured I would call them and let them know that there are others getting 25% off and see what would happen without any intention of making a case out of it. I actually told a friend that I was going with that if I were to get the coupon there is no way I would refuse it. Turns out my Z30's screen broke Sunday night and I accepted the package Monday not knowing that I was even going to be credited and switched to AT&T.
I am very happy with the Passport and for those that helped me get my data off of my Z30 via HDMI + USB mouse was very creative and helpful. I think you guys are overreacting a bit. I told the customer rep what my intentions were because of the no CDMA issue which became a non-issue Sunday night with the Z30 screen broken. I took that as a sign to take delivery and switch. I really did not think I would get the refund as I did not ask to speak with a supervisor, send emails, etc. I simply called and let the rep know what was going on and I am assuming the rep thought it was fine to credit my order.
I actually just noticed the credit a few days ago and thought I would post about it to possibly help others who may have been on the fence or have to debate leaving an unlimited data plan, switching carriers, etc. The things I do for BlackBerry... they aren't losing money on me... upgraded my sister, mother, and father all to Z10s from iPhones with my Z30 supposed to be going to my sister if I decided to take delivery of the Passport.
As you can see, I took delivery believing I was paying full price; just thought I would share that I made one phone call and the rep I spoke with had no problem checking and crediting my order.
Is there any way I can delete this thread lol!10-19-14 12:39 AMLike 0 -

I am astounded. How on earth did that even work? One of the douchiest moves I've seen in a while.

At that point I really had no intention of switching carriers and was planning on refusing delivery. Had an issue with the Z30 that some here helped me resolve and since the Passport was already going to arrive on Monday, I decided to take delivery whether or not I was credited for a coupon code that I did not originally put in. I definitely should have elaborated a bit more on the entire situation rather than just trying to make a quick post.10-19-14 01:02 AMLike 0 -
I'm still debating on whether I should get a replacement screen for the Z30 since I just purchased a new case and was ready to give to my sister since she is on Verizon. She loves the Z10, but not the battery life... and I did convert her from an iPhone lol. I do need a backup GSM device so if I end up not fixing the Z30 I will probably give away the new case to somebody in the Z30 forum (still in the box). Guess we'll see how my finances go for this month before deciding what to do or what BB10 to pick up.
Posted via CB1010-19-14 01:59 AMLike 0 - Yup, that was basically the situation I was in with Verizon and no CDMA. I fully expected my cancelation to go through as the device was backordered and had no idea it was going to ship the day I canceled, but I guess everything happens for a reason as my Z30 screen broke Sunday night so I ended up taking delivery on Monday.

new Z30 screen through ebay or amazon is cheap.
Posted via CB1010-19-14 06:57 AMLike 0 - Yeah I really want to replace that screen so I can give to my sister as she was expecting it. On an older thread there was a link to the screen and it was about $40 on ebay, so not bad at all. The problem is she loves her Z10, but has nothing to upgrade to... she will def not go for the Passport or Classic.
Would rather keep her off of Apple's restrictive ecosystem and her only complaint is battery life. Told her it's like the Z10 on steroids lol. Always thought it should have been named the Z10+. She still has the Z10 and I did tell her to try to hang on as I might replace the screen. Will check Amazon later... about to head to work.
Thanks!
