Yes and no. The core BlackBerry 10 is stable and safe enough so it does not need constant security patches like Android does. I do agree, however, that some apps need updating, like the native Twitter app. BlackBerry says that one is done by Twitter but Twitter dismisses responsibility and refers back to BlackBerry. At the end of the day, none of them respond to my Twitter related remarks

Supposing you just lost your main phone and you have the funds to buy any phone, is the Passport still your top choice?

The answer is quite simple for me: a definite YES!!

    Please chime in...

    Thanks

Yes. I'm thinking of buying a back up now. Just worried about future support, usability etc., otherwise I could see myself using it forever. I'm currently attending a conference and am amused at the seats cluttered with phones, tablets and laptops when all I need is my passport to view slides, make notes, surf the Web and communicate with colleagues and family at the same time. Downside of course is that the conference app is not available on BB so I have to access via a Web page.

Imagine my troubles fumbling between Android and BB10.

I'd swipe up on the Android phone in an attempt to close it... only to realize the obvious that it was Android. LOL!

Edit: "close" meaning to close an app. It can also mean swipe up to unlock the device.

Funny I still have a playbook and also use a Samsung tablet. Always catch myself swiping to close apps and wonder why nothing is happening.

Yeah I do the same thing. I switch back and forth between devices and sometimes I'm double tapping my passport and other times I'm swiping up on my android. Can't figure out why my device is unresponsive?? Then it's like, oh yeah, duhhh. Haha.

I have sent a message to the twitter account of both Blaq and the author but never got a reply.
Could you perhaps inform if Blaq is still under active support? Does Blaq display images embedded in tweets? (the latter is often not the case with the native Twitter app)
Does Blaq support extended tweets and direct messages (both for sending and viewing)?
    Thanks.

As long as I have TMO digits, I'm looking at rejoining the BB10 fold for good.

    Best of both worlds.

Passport is the ultimate handset. If Whatsapp Facebook etc social apps are at par with the version update with other OS than this BlackBerry Passport is the Best in this mobile era. No other mobile phone can beat this model of BlackBerry

I just got an OG, coming from a Q10. Lots to love about the PP, but I think I prefer the Q10 size/feel (perfect size, IMO, and great for on the go). Still, the PP is an incredible phone and I love the screen. Will see what the coming weeks bring.

I made the same move when the PP came. And since, my PP is my daily driver and my Q my 2nd device! Enjoying them every days since years!

I would and I did. Though I use iOS and Android devices for my other two lines, I'm not ready to give up on BB10 until it gives up on all of us. Today I bought a new SE Passport for less than 350 bucks while I still could, and I look forward to the quad-core speed and the ability to work wide while we all enjoy life for as long as BB10 stays with us.

They actually updated the app few months ago, its limited though. They maybe working on an Android & iOS app since BB10 is gone. They do support extended tweets, the DM is limited though.

Impatiently waiting on the Mercury, but went ahead and bought a PP SE today just because I missed mine so much.

Currently using the Priv for now but we'll have what happens in the next couple of weeks?

Just picked up a new Passport yesterday. Until BlackBerry plugs the Google data syphon, I'm staying with OS10.
Perhaps when it's all over, I'll look to Apple. Google is too much for me to consider until there is a way to backup to a PC and not be forced to store/share data with Google.

Sadly BlackBerry did not see the writing on the wall years ago. The operating system is so intuitive, it's really sad how opportunities were ignored. The hub and gestures are so fluid and satisfying. Predictive text
is solid. Nothing we can do about it now. BB10 in 2010 would have been amazing. We soldier on here. KEYONE may be our best option moving forward.
