That's assuming they bought it because of Android apps.

People do not buy BlackBerry devices because of Android apps. That's either a bonus or a nuisance. NOT a selling point.

And specially not for the Passport.
Well, I wanted a KB phone, which was the main reason I switched to BB from Android. But I wouldn't have switched if a particular Android app didn't work (Fongo). I realize that's likely the exception to the rule or majority, but for me having an up to date, decent Android runtime was a selling point.

With NO android apps at all, I would buy a Q10 as the definitive communications device. Done.

I bought it knowing that Android support under BB10 was terrible. I went Q10 to Z30 for two weeks, then returned the Z30 for a Passport. The Q/Z30 were at 10.2.1 at the time, so I was expecting more of the same. But what a surprise when I was able to use Firefox on the Passport. That and my banking apps are the only programs I'm using that require Android.

    Sent from my BlackBerry Passport.

I may buy one Passport at the end of my 2 years contract for my Z10.

I will need the following android apps:

    -Stingray music
    -Qubec 511
    -Office pro suite

Yes. I always get crap from my coworkers for having probably the only blackberry in the company, but I bought it as a tool for productivity, not a toy to play with. I will stick with my passport until it bites the dust and will stay with BlackBerry forever.

Yes, the BlackBerry Passport will be my next new smartphone device, mainly because it "odd" shape and out of the box overall design.

Absolutely. For all core tasks, the Passport is fully capable with BlackBerry World.
I have only two Android apps that I use regularly: Google maps and voetbal.nl (to keep track of my son's soccer team tables and fixtures).
They are convenient, but not necessary.

I would! Physical keyboard, good cpu/hardware, great OS is what brought me back to BlackBerry.

Able to run Android software is just icing on the cake.

Yes. I bought the Passport knowing well it is a Blackberry. I was on a few Androids after my Bold.

Absolutely. My Passport is like my mobile office as I'm often on the road, and I keep it Android-free. I've hidden the amazon store in a folder and never fired it up.

Any android apps I might need, and to be honest that's not many at all, I keep on my secondary Z30

For all Passport users: Would you still buy Passport if it didn't have any Android apps?

    Posted via CB10
Yes. The Android support is a nice bonus, but almost all of my BlackBerry usage is in the supplied software, hub, messaging etc

Having used passport for nearly 4 months now. I will still buy it again in a heartbeat even if there is some catastrophic refocusing and Berry decide to drop android app store altogether.

Maybe, but I would have had to carry a second phone, reluctantly, as there are a few android apps I use regularly (no games) that simply aren't available on BB10. The ability to run those apps is a win win in my opinion.

Now that I have my Passport, no I wouldn't have Android compatibility sway my decision. Pre-purchase it was definitely a factor for me, however, as it would be for most potential "switchers."

Disclosure: I wasn't a 100% switcher, going from Storm to iPhone 4 to Passport, so I already knew something about the BB OS and potential workarounds to bring me close to my particular iOS app setup. But I strongly believe that BlackBerry should do more to address the perceived app dearth, either by encouraging/subsidizing more native BB app development or by improving Android compatibility. Strong BB OS features aren't enough of a selling point, IMO.
