Is the backspace macro "%b" in Word Substitution still broken, like in the thread below? I use Word Sub extensively (wish I could back up my long list of words!), and it is what I planned on using intead of the virtual keys for the much used comma, period, exclamation point, etc. Could somebody please check for me? Thanks!

I do want to say that word sub backup was possible on bbos, so it might be on BB10.

Sadly, it's not available on my Q10. I'm hoping a future software update will eventually bring that option. Preferably sooner than later. lol

The thread in my link explains about the macro and that it's broken, which it is for previous BB10s OS. I'm hoping it's fixed now. From that thread:

"...%b is supposed to act as a backspace prompt to remove the preceding character in word substitutions. For example, one of the default options is rb > %b) which means that if you type "rb" as a new word with a space in front of it, then press the spacebar to autocorrect, the preceding space should be erased and the "rb" replaced with a right bracket ")". The way it is now, that extra space doesn't get erased, so you end up with a space where there isn't supposed to be one, like this: "(qwerty )" instead of this: "(qwerty)".

This macro is useful for providing quick shortcuts to symbols by using the letter key the symbol is on without having to use the Alt key (on the Q10, ie b > %b! or v > %b?), but it doesn't work, and it only frustrated me more to discover that it doesn't work on 10.2 either! "

Okay sorry about that! Misunderstood you. So from what I can tell at a quick glance I'd say that macros still aren't supported but I'll dig deeper and see what I can find.

Looking at this thread looks like my earlier reply got deleted..? :\

    So ignore this I guess?

That's weird, I never saw or got a notification of your previous post. What'd it say? So sad if macro aren't supported yet, like legacy bbos. Save me a lot of time, I type waay faster by using hardware kb and word sub.

The macro appears to be functioning as it doesn't show up in any text (as in when you use it before something, that %b doesn't show up, just the following text), which is strange then since if I type it twice, meaning "%b%b(", it outputs only "%b(".

So to sum it up, it only backspaces once from what I can reproduce, not twice...

Ahh, ok. That was confusing! . Well, I asked in the 10.3.1 leaks thread, and it appears the macro(s) in Word Substitution are still broken. Sadness...

I know what you mean- I need them to put
In my 9900 i put this:

    ae wird durch %b%B ersetzt
    oe wird durch %b%B ersetzt
    ue wird durch %b%B ersetzt
    sz wird durch %b%B ersetzt

    und fr Grobuchstaben:

    aa wird durch %b%B ersetzt
    oo wird durch %b%B ersetzt
    uu wird durch %b%B ersetzt

But now since 10.1 it doesnt work

Can't believe it. After you mentioned this in the other thread I realised just how many of my word subs would benefit from %b. Like fractions or exponents I use a lot.

Hope they put this back in eventually.

Definitely. So useful, isn't it! Sure hope it gets added back into Word Sub.

I installed 10.3.1.1154 yesterday and yes %B does work, and even %b works but only in BBM, SMS and Whatapp, %b doesn't work for emails, remember and docs to go

After tampering with macros, it just stopped working.
