Yeah, after looking at it on the computer I think it`s about 25% wider.

Judging by the prototype I expect the device to be very very close to the official size of a Passport or 4.921 3.465 inches. The Z30 is
    5.54 x 2.83 inches ... so the Q30 is 22% wider but the overall device only 9% larger than a Z30.

Ahh, so many trolls when it comes to the Q30. Stop calling it ugly, that just isn't a nice thing to say. If you have a better Idea on how to give me a 4.5" display and keyboard then go ahead and send it to blackberry. But it's going to be hard to outshine this 'Ugly' phone.

I think what most people have issues with is that it doesn't look like anything they've seen before. It doesn't really look like a BlackBerry, and it's definitely not even close to an iPhone. It new so people fear it conceptually.

I just have one plea, don't insult things others treasure.

I think if it turns out similar to a Xperia
Z2 with a keyboard it will look pretty good.

I would never dream of calling a person's child anything but beautiful or handsome nor would I ever call a person's pet ugly however, I have no problems calling someone's smart phone ugly.

Make the device curved and I bet everyone would consider it semi-stylish. The leaks with the weird white keyboard and rounded corners look superb, but a curved design would at least take away slightly from the unusual width issue. It might not even interfere with the keyboard's touchyfeelypowers if done right! It's gimmicky, a first for keyboard phones, and would feel better in your pocket. We all know what legacy device name we would resurrect just for such a wonderfully curved smartphone.

    No? Ok.

For arguments sake, I thought I'd attach a to-scale image of all the BlackBerry 10 screen sizes, in case you haven't seen thus before.

These are to scale according to each other. This should give you a visualization of how big the devices are.

To really get a feel for the device I printed out one of Dylan's Q30 renders to scale. The print was the proper size for the prototype. I mounted the printed render on some cardboard and held in my hand a stiff 2D Q30 render.

My impression of the device in the " flesh " is that the Q30 will not look ugly at all . It was not awkward to hold . I think the large screen will be amazing. The rectangular shape will look more modern than the Q20, if they can make it thin enough . My only concern is with the keyboard. The operation of the capacitive keyboard has to be better functionality than your Q10-20 for this new concept to fly.

I think I can speak for the rest of us when I say we'd love to see that print out. For visualization purposes. Perhaps you can show it next to a device for scale.

For clarification. I believe typing at the very bottom of the device seems like it would be awkward. That's what I mean by "goofy". I'm thinking about handling the device and typing with it

Yeah. With the limited keyboard real estate and the massive screen, I think it will be too top heavy. They will have to counterbalance it really well. Just imagine typing on a Q10 without the top row of keys. I'm still going to buy it though. Haha

Dylan .. I do not know how to upload so I sent an image on to your business (sales) . I would not want to detract from the high quality of your work so I was hesitant to post it anyways. I spent about 2 minutes on this and it shows. Thanks

As I view the prototype image beside me, the biggest issue from an esthetic standpoint is that the portion above the screen is not matched by the portion below the key board. Maybe they could put something down there that might improve balance as well.
Perhaps Dylan you could take the planned device and make it more pleasing to the eye while not requiring any major changes to the design . Thanks

I think they need to make the top less heavy and the bottom heavier. Otherwise typing with that is rife with "Oh >$ my device is falling!" moments

I don't understand. Adding the 4th row of keys back would increase the height of the device literally by like 6mm... Is that really such a huge deal that they will force you to relearn how to type with the space bar crammed between the V and B and to make seeing the symbols a 2-step process??

Maybe place speakers at the bottom, that would add height and make it easier to type..
