As a consequence of my suspicions, I have shut off automatic updates on my BlackBerry Passport & will await changelogs fearing android runtime loss...

I still think they will launch silver edition passport with android.

I do not think they will change os from bb10. No point.

They want to sell you new devices.

Silver edition has already been launched and it has BB10 and same hardware as regular passport.

If Blackberry passport would get full android while keeping the best features like they did with Priv I think I would come in my pants right then.
After having thousands phones over the years and different platforms the blackberry passport was the ultimate phone . The only thing I missed was the full android OS. So lets hope it happens

I have just bought a passport rather than a priv specifically because android is the last thing I want. So, no, I hope Android does not come to the Passport.

I sure hope so...when it does it means real updates are comming.
With bb10 only security updates are on their way.
Android updates will add new functions etc...while bb10 will stay the same as we know it now(for the biggest part)

    What about this..

Imagine a Passport SE with its high quality, amazing keyboard and form factor! If 10 OS is EOL then...could be a choice over Priv

It is possible to run MacOS, Windows and Linux on same hardware so there is no reason for running Android on Passport.
On the other hand it is more complex to run Android apps now.

Hay come on he is saying completely replace os have you tried Linux installation on windows machine on separate hard disk partitions.?

I would rather say that you just do not understand it.
What part does not make sense?
Is it possible to have computer which can run MS Windows, MacOS or Linux. It is possible. It is called PC computer.
Do you understand possible ways to run app inside some operating system?
    Etc.
Hay not like current implementation.. like dual boot PC. Have you seen Dual Boot PC. Or have you tried installation of pure Linux on windows pc ? In pure installation you remove format whole windows or create another partition on hard drive. Not like parallel, or VMWARE not like os inside os..
