I don't know. To work it out yourself you will have to compare what bands the Passport Model you are considering works on and what bands the mobile carrier in India works on.

For example, my SQW100-1 says that it works on UMTS bands 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 & 8 and LTE bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 13, 17 and 20.

However, it might be a little late to join the BB10 club unless you are fully aware of the EOL situation and especially that you can only run limited Android apps. WhatsApp is probably important to you and I can tell you that that works fine for now but could stop at any time.

Good luck though and if you need help you can find it here for your Passport. You just have to be prepared to accept limitations. For me though, I am still a daily Passport user and it hasn't let me down yet. The main reason is that I am emai, files and comms. heavy and App light, with a few exceptions.
