I've used google maps, BlackBerry maps and waze. Waze was the best followed by google and then BlackBerry maps.

Turn by turn navigation is good on BlackBerry but the routes are terrible.

For my area, BlackBerry Maps doesn't show all the streets that Google does.. I use BlackBerry Maps first, then if it doesn't show or locates the streets I'm trying to find, then I use Google maps..

BlackBerry... It's the only way I communicate

    GoogleMaps people:

Doesn't your phone tell you that it won't run without Google Play Services?

Does it do Turn by Turn voice navigation?

Native BBMaps is off for me - constantly says that it can't find me, provides voice navigation after the fact, can't reroute - wants to stick with the one way it provided no matter which road I'm on.

    Thanks.

Took my 1st cross country trip last week with my BB Passport, and I was disappointed in Maps for the first time. I'm not sure if its the Passport, but I had the following problems:

    1) Updates on location where not in real time. It would freeze, and then "update" my location evry 1-2 miles. Not a huge problem on Highway, but when I was needing turn by turn instructions, it would not be of any help. I never had this issue until now.
    2) It would just randomly recalculate and change routes even if we were not "off course".
    3) In over 1900 miles, we received many accident & construction warnings. Only once was there an actual delay. This tells me the warning data is at least old, if not just flat out wrong. They need to fix this.

Suggestions from other apps I've used:
    1) Have an ETA estimation. Very helpful on Telnav.
    2) Have a verbal Traffic camera warning. Also very help on Telnav. Both of these were standard 3 years ago on that software.

Any suggestions on help & fixes that I can get, would be appreciated. Thanks

    Tim

BB Maps does not give me exit numbers: big disadvantage.
Also, it is not good at finding locations (by store name, etc.).

Not sure about others but in a day I can visit anywhere from 3-5 properties that I need turn by direction to get to, a number of times BlackBerry Maps has no idea where the location is.

I'm concerned by this because not all the properties are new development. I get when BB Maps can't find a location where their still laying asphalt, but some areas that have been around for years it misses.

    -no public transportation data

Beyond that, works fine for me.

I am a windows phone ex-user and I really miss here apps. I tried to install them on Google play but it crashes on opening

The stock map app does not cover Japan. Thus I have to use Google maps.

Two great points, as well as the comment on not being able find all locations. Wish I had included them on my original message. These NEED to be fixed ASAP. I don't want to be forced to go to a separate GPS device. This is not what I was promised on the Premier product, Passport!

Google Maps has a lot more than directions. If I'm headed to a restaurant, I can look up where it is, click on the listing, get the phone number, see reviews, see photos, go to the website, etc. All these things missing from BlackBerry Maps.

BlackBerry Maps fine for basic nav through, IME.

I've never used Google maps before, not even on my iPad.

BlackBerry Maps works great for me here in LA, it has never steered me wrong, and most times saves me time on traffic.

Unfortunately I have to agree, and have also encountered this often myself. BlackBerry maps is a good tool for driving, but does need a little more polish.

Used google maps navigation on my passport today and it was really good. Not as smooth as on the Moto x. It was giving me a turn before I made the current turn. Then later I tried blackberry maps navigation and she was all over the place.

I have downloaded Google Maps on my Z30.

It works fine except for the annoying alert on HUB saying that it needs Google Play services.
