One of my friend working in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia tried the native BlackBerry maps to go to one of their inspection site somewhere in remote region of Jeddah, S.A... they end up in Yemen-Saudi Arabia border... good thing that time, Yemen is still not in civil war...

Maybe now, BlackBerry maps on those regions are improving...

Google Maps allows me to share the destination with other apps, and I use it with Send To Car which then allows me to download POI in my vehicle. That way I can have several POI that I may want to visit along my journey all downloaded into my car's nav system.

    PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION.

Some of us don't own a car, and we live in dense urban areas full of subways and buses. BlackBerry Maps is useless for me in NYC.

However, this is not a complaint from me. I use BeMaps or more usually nothing at all.

Blackberry maps is a nutter, I used it to navigate me and 4 colleagues on a business trip and it kept trying to take us off the motor way at a junction only to go straight back on the motorway at the same junction!!! What's that about?

Yesterday while travelling back home from office, just for fun, I tried native maps on Q10 and it failed while re-routing.. it was totally lost! Google maps any day for me.

    I use both.

Google maps for public transit/walking routes.
    BlackBerry Maps for driving.

Google map is capable of showing me the best method of transport along with detailed information such as name of public transit, duration taken etc. which BlackBerry Map is incapable of. Whereas Blackberry Map provides more accurate and smooth realtime GPS routing for driving.

No turn by turn navigation available in my country... I can only see the route from above and that's it.

Uhm, Here isn't that great. I have Here mapping provider built into my Nissan car and it's taken me to wrong places, tells me to make ridiculous U-turns that doesn't even exist and I had a near fatal call when it told me to turn left on a one way street in the opposite direction. FAIL!

I wish BlackBerry would just purchase Nokia Here maps lol

Google Maps can tell me about public transit, bike paths, walking directions, etc. Street view is also very nice to have so you can actually get a visual on your destination. I generally use BeMaps Pro.

I cannot reiterate how blackberry maps is lagging behind and in Kenya the app fails to recognize the region. I therefore have side loaded google maps. These are small things blackberry needs to look into to as these functionality should come out of the box.
Is BB actually officially supported in Kenya? I know in regions such as Japan, it's not officially supported, so certainly they're not going to consider that region in maps

I use the Native maps and there is nothing wrong with it. I can't see using something else on my Classic. Folks complain about it and make up reasons why it doesn't work. If someone chooses to use google or other map programs that is their choice and I am happy for them but some of these excuses are just lies.

And you are being very naive. Perhaps you care to prove that all these that include my phone doesn't know what city I'm in or they always give me wrong directions.

And this is a country where BB10 devices are still sold in stores.

Don't get me wrong, Passport is the best phone I've ever owned, but you can't deny that BBMaps leaves a lot to be desired.

HERE Maps is almost as bad; it at least has all the streets and their proper names; it just won't do turn-by-turn navigation.

Works well in combination with "Life in Pocket" which is a gem, just has dated graphics. If you Don't have it, check it out, it's free.

BlackBerry maps tends to not find as many commercial establishments. Sometimes the routes are a little wonky. I find BB MAPS easy to use for turn by turn. Overall it is ok but is nice to have Google maps as a back up.

Yeah I use the native app and it runs pretty good. Only problem I have faced is that I live in the desert it occasionally give me wrong directIons to certain places. Its like it get confused of where I should be going. This has only happen like twice and in those situations google maps got me on the right track.

I use the Native BlackBerry Maps app every day for work. Literally use it to go everywhere.

There have been times that even despite spelling a street right, it still can't find it and makes me manually plot it on the map.

There are a few crashes from time to time, and there is also noticeable lag on occasion.

It's not perfect by any stretch, but I use it everyday, and couldn't do without it now.
