Its dimensions are not too different from those of en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/LG_Optimus_Vu, I suppose.

I only have Q10 but i once used Vu2 so i exactly know how it feels to have wide phone. they are super awesome browsing web but may be little tiring to carry it all day unless you're a woman and carry pouch.

Because it is genuinely wide. Having used the Note 3 and my daily driver Z30 when I first played with it I thought it was huge versus what I was expecting. That being said, I'm sure after a few hours I'd be used to it.

Because its a Blackberry and any review they do on a blackberry has to have something negative to say about it.

I like PCMag's review. (I can't post the link for some odd reason, but just google it). Basically says it's odd, striking, and is nothing like any other phone in the market, but he prefers it over the Iphone 6 for some purposes including email, viewing documents, and other work purposes.

Let's face it. It IS big. Got one last week and still not sold on it. Maybe the phone makes sense during the week when I can put it in my suit but on weekends I might prefer either my Q10 (which I wanted to sell) or my Z30.

I will keep it but it simply does not fit in my front jeans pocket. I am rather slim and the phone in the front pocket looks awkward. This is a dealbreaker for weekends.

The only way I've managed one-hand typing is quick responses with a reliance on flick word selection.

Well ... Certainly yeah it has some cache but what is the actual advantage of 16:9 phablet over 5' compared to 5' phones and 7' tablets?
Bigger media in landscape compared to 5' phones. That's one. And probably the only one.

To justify the phablets you need go deeper than just the physical size. You have to compare it at OS benefits as well.
Apple really has a weak case for iPhone6+ over iPhone6. There is no real benefit in iOS to go with larger screen. All that landscape stuff is good for the read only, as soon as you start to type or edit the document you loose half of the screens already tiny height so you are much better off in portrait mode. In my opinion Apple didn't justify the extra height with software additions but of course that doesn't mean the device will not outsell its little brother.

Windows Phone on the other hand with its Lumia 1530 really accommodates the screen with useful information. Live tiles that act like widgets benefit from bigger screen and display more information at glance.

I wont even comment on manic Androids.

I said it many times before, the Passport is first 1:1 phone ever to justify its ratio due to proper screen size. I will be the first one to say that Qs should have had 4:3 screens instead. Passport gives you a lot of maneuverability by offering enough height but also enough width so more information can be displayed at once uninterrupted unlike on tall 16:9 phablets. And there is no virtual keyboard to get in your way most of the time. So Passport is utilizing hardware advantage and to a agree software advantage as well since its already optimized for hardware keys. There is room for improvement like in SMS and BBM apps where they need to remove the constraining tiny text frame when you are typing new IM, etc.
